How to Clean Carpet

Your living room carpet likely gets the most foot traffic of any surface in your home, so not just any carpet cleaning product will do the job. From tracked-in mud, dirt and dust, pet stains and odors, spilled food and drinks, Simple Green All-Purpose Cleaner can spot-clean spills or even work in a carpet cleaning machine to tackle those tough soiled carpet areas. Plus, it's non-toxic and biodegradable - safer for your home & family.

If you're unsure about how Simple Green will affect a surface, be sure to spot test before cleaning. Do not allow your Simple Green solution to dry on carpet or upholstered surfaces.

Spot Cleaning

  1. Remove the mess and blot up any liquid from the carpet before you begin cleaning.
  2. Dampen the stain with clean water.
  3. Spray a solution of 1 oz. Simple Green and 1 cup water onto the stain.
  4. Let it sit for a few minutes to soak.
  5. Gently rub and blot with a clean damp towel or absorbent cloth.
  6. Allow the area to dry completely.

Carpet Cleaning Machine

  1. Mix 4 oz. Simple Green per ½ gallon of water into your carpet cleaning machine.
  2. Apply solution onto the carpet in sections.
  3. Agitate by gently brushing or scrubbing the area (a soft nylon brush works best).
  4. Extract with the carpet cleaner and clean water. If necessary, add a small amount of white vinegar to reduce foaming in the recovery tank.
  5. Allow the area to dry completely.

Repeat as needed for heavy staining.
