HOW TO POLISH CONCRETE COUNTERTOPS

Concrete countertops are beautiful, but they can require more maintenance than their stone counterparts. Small scratches, spots and stains are notoriously more noticeable, and the porous surface can absorb liquids and even bacterial growth more quickly. The most critical step to keeping concrete countertops looking good is to seal them when they're first installed and reseal every 1-3 years. Sealing will make your counters stain-, scratch- and heat-resistant.

Cleaning and polishing is key to keeping them looking good daily. Acidic cleaners like vinegar can etch or cause holes and divots to form in the concrete surface. For best results, use Simple Green Stone Cleaner to ensure your counters have been properly cleaned.

After cleaning, you'll want to polish the surface with a product that won't leave behind residue or streaks. It is safe for use on granite, marble, travertine, limestone, porcelain, ceramic, quartz, Corian®*, Silestone®*, and other natural and engineered stone surfaces.

Directions:

  1. Clean surface. Spray Simple Green Granite & Stone Cleaner and wipe off with a non-abrasive, absorbent cloth or paper towel. To deep clean surfaces, allow the cleaner to sit for one minute, then wipe off.

  2. Spray Polish. Apply Simple Green Granite & Stone Polish to a section of countertop.

  3. Wipe. Wipe off with a non-abrasive, soft cloth or paper towel. Repeat in sections until you've polished the entire surface.

Tip: To further prevent future scratches and stains, always use cutting boards and clean up messes quickly.

CAUTION: DO NOT USE ON FLOORS - newly polished surfaces may become slick or slippery. Clean off overspray from floors with a cleaner such as Simple Green All-Purpose Cleaner.
