Several years ago we had a kitchen fire which caused extensive damage to our kitchen and very heavy smoke damage to everything else in our home. After the fire, the Red Cross gave us information on how to clean our smoky smelling clothes. I don"t remember the "recipe" but it involved several washes with several cleaners. My wife and I were certain we would never get everything clean again. I have used Simple Green on my cars for years, and on a whim I added about 1/4 a cup to a load of smokey laundry with regular detergent. ONE WASH and the clothes were clean, and fresh smelling-no smoke odor at all. We were thrilled that we would not have to spend so much money on the all the "recipe" cleaners and could get it all cleaned in one wash. We have passed the information on to anyone we talk to with smoke oders that Simple Green is the true key to a thorough cleaning.
