Natural Vs. Naturally Derived

Simple Green® Naturals products contain some ingredients that are natural (such as the essential oils and plant extracts in their scent blends,) and some that are more correctly classified as naturally derived. All ingredients within these products are either found in nature or start from natural sources.

Sometimes naturally derived ingredients are modified by man-made chemicals. If there is not a natural ingredient that does a great cleaning job for us to utilize in making a Simple Green Naturals product, we will source a naturally derived, safe, green, man-modified one instead.

“Natural” is not a standardized or regulated term. That is why we don’t call our product ingredients natural – we more correctly call them naturally-derived. The reason for any man-made modifications to a natural source can be to reduce the irritancy of an ingredient, draw forth that portion of a natural ingredient that does the cleaning task, or eliminate portions of natural ingredients that do bad things like spoil.

In all cases, we seek to use the safest, greenest ingredients that will get the job done. We have worked long and hard to make Simple Green Naturals a group of products that do not contain synthetic preservatives, dyes or perfumes. Sometimes that means that our products are not as perfectly crystal clear as some others on the shelf – or that they don’t have super-strong synthetic smells of things like fresh baked cookies, sugar snap peas, or piña coladas. (If you see the word “fragrance” used on a product label that means it contains synthetic ingredients.) But they all have a good, natural heart, and they do what’s promised on the label – they clean.
